You can purchase tonics and lotions for facial care at a store, surely. But it is much more useful to prepare them at home, using only natural ingredients. Keep this product in a refrigerator during a very limited period of time. Storage period should be from 2 days to 2 weeks if tonic composition includes alcohol.
Cucumber Tonic Recipes
Perhaps, cucumber is the main constituent of the DIY tonic. Cucumber is well saturated with moisture, so it is good for moisturizing of dry skin and cleaning of oily skin.
The following tonic is suitable for normal and dry skin type. To make it, you need to boil a cup of milk and add 3 tablespoons of finely chopped peeled cucumber. Then leave it for 5 minutes on low heat. When the mixture has cooled down, drain it. This milk-cucumber tonic restores moisture balance of skin, making it supple. Besides, it improves complexion. Store it for up to 2-3 days.
To prepare a tonic for oily and mixed skin types, you need 4 tablespoons of a cucumber grated on a fine grater. Mix it with 1 tablespoon of lemon zest, 2 tablespoons of lemon juice and a glass of vodka. Infuse the mixture in a sealed container for 15 days. After that, you need to add a fresh egg white, a teaspoon of honey and a little of cooled boiled water.
Wine tonic is suitable for all skin types (only tightened, very dry skin may be the exception). To prepare it, you need to chop cucumber peel on a fine grater or in a blender. Then, mix 3-4 tablespoons of this mass in equal proportions with finely chopped parsley or dill. Then, all the ingredients are poured with a glass of dry white wine and infused. The tonic is ready after 14 days. Its application will help to even out the complexion and partially solve the problem of excessive pigmentation.
DIY Tonic for Normal, Dry and Combination skin
For normal and dry skin, use a tonic of 2 tablespoons of oat flakes, infused with the same amount of hot milk. When the mixture has cooled down, it can be used. Put this mass on your face with massage movements. After a few minutes, wash it off with cool water.
Tonic from petals of red roses is very good for moisturizing and refreshing of skin, by saturating it with nutrients. Recipe: 3 cups of petals should be poured up to full coverage with natural vegetable oil. You can use almond oil, peach kernel oil or olive oil. Then heat the oil with petals in a bain-marie until the petals are discolored. Now, drain the oil. When it cools down, it will be ready for use.
To return elasticity to very dry or aging skin, use the following tonic. You need boiled birch juice (half a cup) and 1 teaspoon of honey. Dissolve honey in hot birch sap. When it cools down, wipe your skin with it twice a day. Similarly, we can prepare a tonic of lime. First, 1 tablespoon of lime should be poured with a glass of hot boiled water. An hour later, add a teaspoon of honey.
If the skin is very oily, inflamed and always with acne, you should try to clean the face regularly with tonic of the juice of agave (aloe) and cucumber. If you don’t have agave, replace it with onion. Mix cucumber juice and agave in equal proportions (2 tablespoons of each) and add 1 teaspoon of lemon juice. Apply this mixture only on those skin areas that are most prone to acne and inflamed. After 20 minutes, wash the face with water at room temperature.
